Calories Matter Most For Fat Gain

Calories Matter Most For Fat GainPeople who ate high-calorie diets all gained about the same amount of fat, according to a recently concluded research. It was also revealed that those whose diets were low in protein gained less weight overall than people on high- and moderate-protein diets but this was more because the low-protein group also lost muscle.

“Huge swings in protein intake do not result in huge swings in body fat gain,” said Dr. James Levine, who studies obesity at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota but wasn’t involved in the new study. “It really is the calories that count.”

Dr. George Bray from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana concluded, “If you over-eat extra calories, no matter what the composition of the diet is, you’ll put down more fat.”

Posted by admin On July - 29 - 2009

Conjugated Linoleic Acids Ideal for Losing Extra KilosConjugated Linoleic Acid, popularly known as CLA, is a Trans-Fat which is found in meat and dairy products. This ‘healthy fat‘ is considered to be highly beneficial for all those who want to get rid of those extra kilos under their belt or fighting against cancer (carcinoma).

It is used by professional athletes, bodybuilders, and members of general public to lose extra body fat under the belt before start of a competitive event or in the general parlance. It helps in reducing body fat mass by encouraging apoptosis in adipose tissues. CLAs are also used to increase lean body mass and reduce lipid levels beside inhibiting cancer cells and minimizing inflammation and atherosclerosis.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid has a chemical name of trans-10,cis-12-conjugated Linoleic acid and chemical formula of C18H32O2. It has normal biofluid and tissue concentrations of ~1.2 ug total CLA / mg lipid and ~3.8 ug total CLA / mg adipose tissue lipid, respectively.

Low doses of these acids are quite safe but only till the usage is preceded by a qualified medical advice. Therefore, it is highly essential for every one keen to take CLA to seek advice of a qualified medical practitioner.

People who are suffering from diabetes, heart ailments, or allergies to dyes and preservatives must stay away from CLA. A high degree of caution is required to be observed if a prospective CLA user is a breastfeeding, pregnant, or pregnancy-suspecting woman. In addition to that, a prospective CLA user must inform his or her doctor about any intake of prescription and non-prescription medicines, or herbal supplements.

Abuse of Conjugated Linoleic Acids can result in side-effects such as nausea, heartburn, indigestion, diarrhea, or loose stools. High blood sugar, low HDL cholesterol, high C-reactive protein, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or itching may also be some of possible side-effects of an abuse.

So, if you want to lose weight, use Conjugated Linoleic Acids but only after a qualified medical advice.
