<p style="text-align: justify;">&#8220;The outside environment in which a preterm baby continues to mature is very different than the environment that the baby would have experienced in utero,&#8221; she said. &#8220;This change in environment may be part of the reason why there is a difference in <strong>autistic severity</strong> in this set of infants.&#8221; &#8220;Normal gestation age of birth seems to mitigate the severity of <strong>autism spectrum disorder</strong> symptoms, and the types of autistic traits tend to be different depending on age at birth,&#8221; Movsas said.</p>

<p>The study also revealed that a reduction in risk for women was only seen when they ate at least several servings of berries a week.</p>
<p>&#8220;For total <strong>flavonoids</strong>, the beneficial result was only in men. But, berries are protective in both men and women,&#8221; said the study&#8217;s lead author, Dr. Xiang Gao, a research scientist at the<a href="http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/" target="_blank"><strong> Harvard School of Public Health</strong></a> and an associate epidemiologist at <strong>Harvard Medical School</strong> and <strong>Brigham and Women&#8217;s Hospital</strong> in Boston.</p>
<p>&#8220;Berries could be a neuroprotective agent. People can include berries in their regular diet. There are no harmful effects from berry consumption, and they lower the risk of <strong>hypertension</strong> too,&#8221; Gao added.</p>
<p>The study results are published online April 4 in the journal <em>Neurology</em>.</p>
<p>Dr. Michael Okun, medical director of the <strong>National Parkinson Foundation</strong>, said, &#8220;It is exciting to see research emerging about modifiable dietary issues that may affect the risk of getting diseases such as Parkinson&#8217;s.&#8221;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&#8220;For combination therapy there is so much data about the dangers that we really tell people that if they must take it to treat symptoms, they should only do so for a year or two at most,&#8221; said study author Dr. Wendy Chen, an associate physician at Brigham and Women&#8217;s Hospital and an assistant professor in medicine at the Breast Cancer Treatment Center at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. &#8220;For estrogen alone, there is more safety data for someone who wants to take it for five or six years.&#8221;</p>

<p>It was suggested by the study that <strong>aerobic exercise</strong> causes a more rapid decrease in blood sugar than weightlifting.</p>
<p>“Your muscles utilize sugar very quickly in <strong>aerobic exercise</strong>,&#8221; Dr. Vivian Fonseca, chief of endocrinology at Tulane University Medical School told Reuters Health. “While the study findings are very intriguing, they may have limited practical value until more studies are done,&#8221; said Fonseca.</p>
