Arimidex – Potent Antiestrogen

Posted by admin On March - 26 - 2011

Arimidex – Potent AntiestrogenIn the world of professional sports, Arimidex is one of the most trusted antiestrogens. This is not only because legal Arimidex can be purchased easily online, with or without a prescription, but also because this highly safe antiestrogen can promote dramatic benefits in a short span of time.

Let us read more about Arimidex to develop a clear and complete insight.

Arimidex, also known as Liquidex or Anastrozole, can be classified as a non-steroidal drug used by individuals, especially by sportsmen on steroids, to stay away from side effects of estrogens and aromatizable steroids like testosterone suspension, testosterone cypionate, and testosterone enanthate.

In the world of healthcare, Arimidex is routinely recommended to post menopausal women suffering from breast cancer when standard therapies such as Tamoxifen have failed to meet expectations. In addition to all these advantages, Arimidex is also useful to reduce the blood estradiol concentrations, size, and growth of cancerous tumors. The antiestrogen is also recommended to hypogonadal men afflicted with deficiency of testosterone.

When taken in an oral form, this antiestrogen enters the liver where more than 90 percent of it is broken down into inactive metabolites. This drug can be used even by individuals with kidney impairment, as it is not excreted in the urine.

Having an active life of 42-48 hours, Arimidex can enhance the level of testosterone to a considerable extent and help sportsmen reap optimum benefits of anabolic steroids and performance enhancing drugs during a steroid cycle. The recommended dose of Arimidex is one tablet of 1 mg per day and this dose should not be abused else it can lead to side effects like sudden headache, sudden numbness, swollen glands, or problems with speech.

JJB Sports ask investors for £65millionIn a bid to turn its fortunes around, troubled sportswear chain JJB Sports has confirmed plans to tap shareholders for an additional £65million.

The company recently said that it has entered into discussions with its major investors and would be able to provide more details of its business plans on March 15, 2011.

From Dailymail.co.uk:

JJB, which operates nearly 250 stores and has 6,100 staff, battles to stave off administration. It is in the middle of a turnaround plan under which it is offering landlords £7.5million if they accept a deal that could result in 89 stores shutting down.

The latest money raising comes just a month after JJB tapped its five biggest shareholders, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, for £31.5million. It also raised £100million from shareholders just over a year ago.

‘The company currently expects the quantum of the proposed equity capital raising to be around £65million and is in constructive discussions with its major shareholders in relation to their continued support,’ JJB said in a statement.

It added: ‘The company currently expects to provide further details of its revised business plan, anticipated funding requirements and proposed financing arrangements on or around March 15, 2011.’

The group’s new chairman, Mike McTighe, is planning to offer directors shares in the company as part of his five-year strategy to turn the retailer around.

Earth axis tilted by 25cm due to Japan EarthquakeExperts have disclosed that the earthquake that struck Japan on Friday was so powerful that it actually moved the whole planet by 25cm.

The 9.0 magnitude of Japanese earthquake was so powerful that it shifted the axis around which the Earth rotates, according to Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.

From Dailymail.co.uk:

The shift to the Earth’s tilt will have profound, if subtle effects on the length of the day and the passage of the seasons.

Like a figure skater drawing in her arms during a pirouette, the speed of the planet’s rotation will change as the globe’s mass has been redistributed.

But Canadian geologists say that the ‘very, very tiny’ changes won’t be seen for centuries.

‘Ten inches [25cm] sounds like quite a lot when you hold a ruler in front of you. But if you think of it in terms of the earth as a whole, it’s absolutely tiny; it’s minute,’ University of Toronto professor Andrew Miall told Postmedia News.

The main island of Japan has been shifted 2.4 metres by the force of the disaster, as per the U.S. Geological Survey.

Benefits Of Xenon Car Headlights

Posted by admin On March - 17 - 2011

There have been quite a few breakthroughs in the world of car technology that have completely revoutionized driving. One of these big improvements has to be HID (high intensity discharge) xenon car headlights.

2

Let us access benefits of HID xenon lights to create and maintain a complete understanding.

Xenon bulbs demonstrate the unique ability of illuminating the road 90 percent brighter as compared to ordinary halogen bulbs. Not only this, HID lights can send a light beam up to a distance of 20 meters that mean it will be easy for you to identify any blind spot or hazards or animals on the road while driving. This will also mean that you will be in a better position than ever to make informed driving decisions and save valuable lives and properties, including that belonging to you and that of the car occupants besides that of the pedestrians.

If that was not all to impress you, xenon headlight bulbs can even boost your confidence while driving as they make everything much sharper and clearer. Furthermore, HID lights consume less of power when compared to the ordinary halogen bulbs while still providing better visibility on the road. The list of benefits associated with HID headlights does not end here and they are UV protected and safe when used along with plastic headlight lenses. Need any more to go safe while driving?

Acupuncture to cool down hot flushes

Acupuncture to cool down hot flushes

A recently concluded study has revealed that acupuncture can help women suffering from the most common symptoms of menoapause.

The study suggested that acupuncture, the ancient Chinese needle therapy, could be used for curbing the severity of hot flushes and for relieving mood swings among women receiving it regularly.

From Dailymail.co.uk:

Hot flushes can suddenly produce an uncomfortable feeling of intense heat, while frequent flushes at night can disrupt sleep.

The symptoms are caused by the dilation of blood vessels in the skin and are linked to hormone imbalances, but they are still not fully understood.

Medication proven to combat flushes includes Hormone Replacement Therapy and some antidepressants, which appear to damp down the body’s blood vessel system.

In the study, which was published in the journal Acupuncture in Medicine, Turkish researchers looked at 53 menopausal women.

Twenty seven received acupuncture twice a week for ten weeks. This involved placing needles at certain points on the body to boost energy and release endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.

David Sturdee, president of the International Menopause Society, however said: ‘The evidence is not strong from previous studies and this a small trial.

Lung cancer in old women has doubled since 1970s

Posted by admin On March - 9 - 2011

Lung cancer in old women has doubled since 1970sAccording to a recently concluded research, lung cancer rates among older women have doubled in the past thirty years.

Experts are of the view that lung cancer is occurring amongst those who started to smoke in the 1970s and 1980s, many of whom never kicked the habit. Latest figures reveal that rates for British women aged 60 and over rose from 88 per 100,000 in 1975 to 190 per 100,000 in 2008. Those over the age of 80 had the highest rates of all with 273 cases per 100,000 in 2008 that was three times as many as 1975 when there were only 84 per 100,000. It is believed that most of those affected started smoking in their twenties, thirties, and forties when smoking was far more socially acceptable.

It was also disclosed that almost half of all adults were smokers in 1975 but this has dropped to just over a fifth today.

Lung cancer is the second most common form of cancer in women after breast cancer, with almost 41,000 new cases diagnosed every year. Almost 90 percent of lung cancer patients get the disease due to smoking and the remaining 10 percent due to passive smoking, asbestos, or air pollution. In the United Kingdom, lung cancer is responsible for more than 35,000 deaths in a year, one every 15 minutes.

Jean King, Cancer Research UK’s director of tobacco control, said: ‘These figures highlight how important tobacco control measures are in helping people to stop smoking.’ Under new laws, cigarettes could be sold in plain packaging as trendy logos and brand names attract youngsters to take up the habit, making Britain the first country in Europe to ban branded boxes.

Kids staying up late at weekends at risk for obesity

Kids staying up late at weekends at risk for obesity

A new study has revealed that kids staying up late at weekends are more likely to be obese.

Researchers at the Chicago University monitored 308 children from four to ten years of age, according to the journal Paediatrics.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

The children averaged eight hours per night throughout the week – less than is recommended – with no significant differences between the fatter and thinner children, according to the Telegraph.

However, at weekends, the obese children had shorter and more irregular sleep patterns, the researchers found.

The authors said that obese children were less likely to experience ‘catch-up’ sleep on weekends and the combination of shorter sleep duration and more-variable sleep patterns was associated with adverse metabolic outcomes.

Lack of sleep is believed to lead to increased production of ghrelin, a hormone produced in the gut and the reduced release of a hormone called leptin in fat cells.

Those who are told to go to bed early on weekend nights tend to be thinner, according to the study.

India becoming surrogate pregnancy hub

India becoming surrogate pregnancy hub

Gynaecology experts are of the view that India could become a global hub in the field of surrogate pregnancy, an assisted reproductive technique (ART) in which a woman carries in her womb the baby of another woman.

This is primarily because of the healthier lifestyles of to-be mothers from India and lower costs compared to the West.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

‘The reason why surrogate pregnancy is rising is mainly because of the low-cost factor, and the preferably healthy lifestyle of Indian women, much needed during pregnancy,’ Shivani Sachdev Gour, fertility expert and gynaecologist, told IANS.

‘Women here are less exposed to a lifestyle with drugs, alcohol and smoking, which has a positive impact on the health of the baby as well as the mother. Also surrogacy laws in India are much lenient as compared to other countries,’ added Gour.

She says she gets around 25 patients every month from countries like Britain, the US, and countries in the Middle East at the Surrogacy Centre of India Healthcare, a private hospital she runs in south Delhi.

While the cost of treatment and expenses involved in surrogate pregnancy vary between Rs.50,000 and Rs.100,000 ($1,000 and $2,000) in India, the cost in other countries like the US and Britain is nearly five times that in India, said Gour.

Alka Kriplani, professor at the department of obstetrics and gynaecology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), ‘Surrogacy is advised in cases of malformed uterus, or when pregnancy is life-threatening. But the reasons are slowly expanding in our country.’
