Dianabol - First Choice of Bodybuilders with too many expectationsWith amazing benefits, Dianabol is one anabolic that has remained the first choice bodybuilders and professional sportsmen over a period of time. Dianabol not only allows them to get benefited by enjoying increased levels of stamina and endurance but also helps in glycogen retention in a dramatic manner.

Dianabol is an exceptional product when it comes to promotion of protein synthesis and enhancing level of glycogenolysis. In addition to that, it also facilitates enhanced stimulation of body strength and allows its users to lose fat and build muscles at the same time.

For best effects, it can be stacked with Nolvadex to reduce the aromatizing effects. One thing that users of dianabol must remember is that it must not be used for a period more than six weeks.

The recommended dosage of this anabolic product is 25-50 mg on a daily basis for men but it is not recommended to women as its androgenic component can result in considerable virilization symptoms to their bodies.

In short, Dianabol can be termed as one anabolic product that comes with almost no side effects and still very much effective.

Effective advice on how to come clean

Posted by admin On September - 20 - 2009

Effective advice on how to come cleanThe list of unknown baseball players who tested positive in the supposedly anonymous steroids survey of 2003 is now down to 97 with David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez being ousted as part of the Gang of 104. It is believed that almost all of the remaining “gang members” will come out, in bunches or individually, to clear the dark clouds surrounding the spirit of the game of baseball.

From TimesUnion.com:

The remaining 97 positives, active or not, should be running to the nearest podium to call a news conference and admit guilt. Coming clean rather than being exposed is the best route to navigate the court of public opinion. See: Pettitte, Andy – or, conversely, Clemens, Roger.

Sure, they could gamble that their names would remain private, as the athletes were guaranteed six years ago. But that’s not going to happen, is it? So here’s a cheat sheet (apt phrase) that players can use to cop a plea in an attempt to get ahead of this slowly chugging freight train of a story.

Now that the number of steroid-accused baseball players is reducing with almost every passing day, sporting bodies and fans must surely be enjoying a big sigh of relief. After all, steroids and baseball have long being co-related with each other, especially after the steroids survey of 2003.

WWE slams down Rey Mysterio for violating wellness policy

Posted by admin On September - 15 - 2009

WWE slams down Rey Mysterio for violating wellness policyThe WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) has suspended Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio for a period of 30 days, starting from September 2, 2009. The suspension was the result of a violation of WWE’s wellness policy.

It has been speculated that steroid use can be the reason behind Mysterio’s suspension. However, the speculations relating to drug testing by WWE on Mysterio has been turned down by some sources.

From US.WWE.COM:

In accordance with WWE’s Wellness Program, effective Wednesday, September 2, Oscar Gutierrez (Rey Mysterio) is suspended for 30 days for a violation of the company’s policy.

Rey Mysterio, whose real name is Oscar Guiterrez, has however denied using steroids to gain an advantage in the fierce competition. However, the fact that he was identified as a customer of the tainted Dr. Phil Astin III has led to beliefs that he may be tried for using steroids in the WWE. It is noteworthy to note here that Mysterio’s name was also highlighted in a SI report in 2007 when he was accused of allegedly receiving steroid prescriptions for Nandrolone and Stanozolol.

The suspension can ruin the career of Rey, if the WWE decides to strip him off his intercontinental championship belt. Ray is expected to defend his title against Dolph Ziggler at Breaking Point pay-per-view in next month. But if the current events are to be considered then he may end up giving it to Ziggler.

Mysterio’s fans are just hoping that their favorite hero does not add to the list of professional wrestlers who used anabolic steroids or performance enhancing drugs for staying ahead in the competition.

Rodriguez proud of the fact that he came clean

Posted by admin On September - 14 - 2009

Rodriguez proud of the fact that he came cleanAlex Rodriguez has come clean about his use of performance enhancing drugs during his press conference. Alex said that he preferred to sleep after delivering one of the most memorable home runs of his entire career to end a 15-inning marathon on the Friday night and did not saw David Ortiz’s news conference Saturday.

From TimesUnion.com:

While Ortiz denied ever using steroids and blamed his positive test in 2003 on over-the-counter supplements, A-Rod came clean about his use of PEDs during his press conference, a decision that unburdened the three-time AL MVP.

“I’m so proud of the way things came out,” Rodriguez said. “I took a lot of things off my chest, and since that press conference, I feel like a new man. I feel like I’ve been embraced by not only the city of New York, but my teammates, my coaches and my manager. I feel liberated by the way I came out and did things.”

The fact that A-Rod disappeared for a month during spring training to rehab his surgically repaired hip also helped him move past the steroid controversy, his month in Colorado serving as what he called “a blessing in disguise. It gave me a chance to refocus, rethink things and basically take a time out from all the white noise I created for myself over the last year and a half.”

It is surprising to note here that Rodriguez has remained free from all types of controversies this season, from the steroid controversy to his public relationship with Madonna to his pending divorce, to put an end to all the drama after his steroid admission during the spring training times.

Physical Performance is not improved by growth hormone

Posted by admin On September - 13 - 2009

Physical Performance is not improved by growth hormoneAccording to a new dissertation from the Sahlgrenska Academy at Göteborg University in Sweden, injecting growth hormone (GH) is not effective at all if the GH user wants to build muscle mass or enhance physical performance.

It is worthwhile to note here that doping in sports using the growth hormone traces back to the mid 1980s. However, GH does not bring the same benefits or aggressive behavior as anabolic steroids. On the other hand, growth hormone can cause severe side effects such as damage to the blood vessels and heart.

From News-Medical.Net:

“Many of those who abuse anabolic steroids regard growth hormone as the Rolls Royce of doping agents: it is significantly more expensive to use than anabolic steroids. There is, however, no scientific evidence that it increases performance when used alone as a doping agent”, says Dr. Christer Ehrnborg.

Christer Ehrnborg has studied 30 well-trained people living in Göteborg. Twenty of these injected large doses of growth hormone each day for a month, while the other 10 believed that they also were receiving growth hormone but received injections of harmless saline solution instead. Tests of the participants’ physical performance on an exercise cycle showed that the participants receiving growth hormone did not perform better than those receiving saline solution.

“It has been a matter of controversy whether growth hormone actually causes an effect or whether it is a matter involving mass psychology. Both our study and studies carried out by others suggest that taking growth hormone will not make you a better athlete”, says Christer Ehrnborg.

It was remarked by Christer Ehrnborg that athletes injecting growth hormones tend to experience immediate effect in the body and believe that GH must improve their physical performance. But that’s not the case as there is no effect of increased muscle mass from the growth hormone as per the conducted experiments.

Remainder of Roger Clemens' suit against Brian McNamee dismissedThe remainder of defamation suit by Roger Clemens against Brian McNamee has been dismissed by U.S. District Judge Keith P. Ellison in Texas and may now head for a continuing legal battle in New York.

Clemens may find it difficult to refile the case as the dismissal was with prejudice, which means that the case cannot be heard again. But Clemens has expressed his intents to ask the he 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to review Ellison’s decision.

From Timesunion.com:

McNamee claimed in the Mitchell Report that he injected Clemens with steroids and human growth hormone at least 16 times in 1998, 2000 and 2001. Clemens responded the statements to Mitchell’s staff, which McNamee also repeated to Sports Illustrated’s Web site, were “untrue and defamatory.”

McNamee’s lawyers had moved that Clemens’ lawsuit be dismissed because their client was compelled to cooperate with Mitchell by federal investigators. Ellison agreed, but he initially left intact that part of the suit relating to McNamee’s statements to Andy Pettitte, Clemens’ former New York Yankees teammate. McNamee told Pettitte that Clemens had used HGH and steroids.

In his suit in Brooklyn, McNamee claimed Clemens launched an “intense and coordinated public relations offensive” against the trainer. Clemens went on “60 Minutes” and held a nationally televised news conference to refuse McNamee’s allegations.

Clemens and McNamee repeated their statements to a congressional committee, which then asked the Justice Department to launch a probe into whether the pitcher lied. A federal grand jury in Washington has been investigating Clemens.

This case has once again proved or at least acted as secondary evidence that steroids and sports are almost inseparable.

Anabolic Steroids effective for improving surgical repair of shoulder tearsAccording to a new research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, treatment with anabolic steroids could improve surgical repair of massive or recurrent tears of rotator cuff tendons of the shoulder.

It is common to see that these kinds of injuries extend well beyond athletes, collegiate, and professional sportsmen and may occur in older sportsmen, including golf and tennis players.

This study appeared in an issue of the American Journal of Sports Medicine and was led by Dr. Spero Karas, assistant professor of orthopedic surgery in UNC’s School of Medicine.

From News-Medical.Net:

Anabolic steroids benefit millions of people a year, said Karas, including those with deficiencies in sex hormones and burn victims who need to build up their metabolism to repair musculoskeletal tissue. They also are FDA-approved for treating anemia for their ability to help the body rebuild blood.

As it’s widely known that anabolic steroids can build muscle mass and strength, Karas said he thought these properties might apply to shoulder tissue and that Banes’ bioartificial tendon might provide the appropriate model for testing.

“In this new study, supraspinatus tendon cells were harvested from my patients during rotator cuff surgery, isolated and then sent to Albert’s lab,” Karas said. “The cells were then grown in his culture media to coalesce and form this experimental tendon model, the bioartificial tendon.”

Prior to applying mechanical strain, the researchers treated some of the developing tissue with the anabolic steroid nandrolone decoanate. The steroid was administered directly into the lab dish via pipette, or dropper.

“We clearly found that when you looked at the bioartificial tendon matrices that were treated with anabolic steroid and then mechanical load or strain, we saw significant increases in their biomechanical properties,” Karas said.

It was remarked by Karas that anabolic steroids and load work synergistically for improving features of tendon. It is believed that crucial implications of this study could prove beneficial to post-surgery healing of tendons that have been torn or retracted for a long time.

Asthma Symptoms can be treated with inhaled corticosteroids

Posted by admin On September - 8 - 2009

Asthma Symptoms can be treated with inhaled corticosteroidsAccording to a new review of recently concluded studies comparing inhaled corticosteroids and the medicine cromolyn, asthmatic children and adults can breathe deeper and exercise a better control over their asthma with corticosteroids.

It was remarked by James Guevara, M.D., of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and colleagues that asthmatic patients using steroids also have the unique advantage of scoring considerably higher when it comes to lung function tests. It was also remarked that patients using inhaled corticosteroids use their inhalers often less than those using cromolyn for treating asthma.

From News-Medical.Net:

“To our knowledge, this is the first systematic review comparing the effects of cromolyn to the gold standard, inhaled steroids,” Guevara said.

The review appears in the current issue of The Cochrane Library, a publication of The Cochrane Collaboration, an international organization that evaluates medical research. Systematic reviews draw evidence-based conclusions about medical practice after considering both the content and quality of existing medical trials on a topic.

The consensus still leaves room for cromolyn treatment, according to William Storms, M.D., an allergist at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and director of the William Storms Allergy Clinic in Colorado Springs.

“Any expert would agree that inhaled corticosteroids are preferred first-line therapy for treatment of persistent asthma, which requires daily therapy. But we also will agree with the NIH [National Institutes of Health] asthma guidelines, which state that cromolyn and other drugs are alternative therapies,” Storms said.

Cromolyn, or sodium cromoglycate, and inhaled corticosteroids both block the action of certain inflammatory cells in the lungs. Physicians recommend both types of medication for persistent asthma, but individual studies disagree about which type of medication works best, the reviewers found.

It was concluded by Guevara and colleagues that inhaled corticosteroids prove to be superior to cromolyn despite severity of asthma. It was also concluded that the experienced results were so much decisive that there is need to warrant any further studies on this matter.

New Technique to curb use of banned substances in sports

Posted by admin On September - 4 - 2009

New Technique to curb use of banned substances in sportsNew Technique to curb use of banned substances in sportsAccording to a research published in the journal Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, a new technique can enable sporting drug officials in the form of a long jump forward in spotting use of banned substances by athletes.

This technique can easily distinguish the presence of naturally occurring human steroids and those that have been synthetically manufactured.

From News-Medical.Net:

The new approach, developed by scientists from Imperial College London and the University of Nottingham, allows easy analysis of the carbon ratio. It uses a catalytic reaction to strip steroids of their more aggressive parts whilst leaving the carbon ’skeleton’ intact. This technique, called hydropyrolysis, is commonly used to aid oil exploration by freeing small fragments of organic matter from petroleum rock sources.

Dr Mark Sephton, from Imperial’s Department of Earth Science and Engineering and lead author of the research, explained: “The type of carbon in the body’s molecules reflects the carbon ingested as part of an athlete’s diet, and if you can work out the carbon ratio in the molecules you can determine the source of the carbon.

“Drug cheats should beware. The carbon-based secrets of steroids are now apparent to the analyst. Thanks to our technique, in the future it will be much more difficult to escape detection when using performance-enhancing steroids“, he added.

The involved researchers are presently working on pure samples of steroid molecules and the next step for them is all about extending their work onto samples taken from the body.

New revelations about the human immune system

Posted by admin On September - 3 - 2009

New revelations about the human immune systemResearchers at the Michigan State University have found out that leptin, a hormone produced by fat cells and considered as an appetite-controlling hormone, has the ability to affect the immune system where natural versions of some steroids fail to deliver.

This study was reported in an online edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It was revealed by Pamela Fraker, MSU professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and lead scientist that the neuroendocrine system plays an all-important role in both the immune system and obesity.

From News-Medical.Net:

To further study leptin’s effect on the immune system, Fraker and her colleagues are planning a study on morbidly obese people who will be having gastric bypass surgery. While the outcome of the surgery is highly successful for most people, mortality rates can range from 2 percent to 10 percent, which is significant.

“Infection from poor wound healing, which is the result of reduced immune function, is one reason people die from the surgery,” Fraker said. “We’re going to measure people’s immune function before and after surgery to see how much it improves, as well as how fast it improves.”

Other members of this research team are MSU scientists Louis King, research assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, and Kate Claycombe, assistant professor of food science and human nutrition.

While corticosteroids, such as prednisone, reduce inflammation, they also inhibit the body’s immune system – a person taking prescription steroids is more susceptible to infection. Another MSU research team found that corticosteroids produced naturally in the body don’t have this same immunosuppressive effect.

It was remarked by Fraker and his team that the naturally-produced versions of steroids do not affect the immune system like the pharmacological versions and pharmaceutical companies need to aim for synthesizing natural versions of the steroids.

Norditropin approved by FDA for children with Noonan syndrome

Posted by admin On September - 1 - 2009

Norditropin approved by FDA for children with Noonan syndromeNorditropin (somatropin[rDNA origin] injection) has been approved by FDA for treating short stature in children with Noonan syndrome, according to a recent statement by Novo Nordisk.

Noonan syndrome is classified as an autosomal dominant genetic syndrome that is commonly featured by congenital heart defects, short stature, and unique facial characteristics. It is believed that 80 percent of children suffering from Noonan syndrome tend to also suffer from considerable short stature.

From News.medical.net:

“When you see a child who has Noonan syndrome, it may not always be obvious to the naked eye, but the complications associated with the condition are quite serious and can affect both physical development and other systems” said Martin Soeters, president of Novo Nordisk Inc. “There are few treatment options available to help the physical development, and this approval marks an exciting advancement for children with this rare condition.”

Noonan syndrome is classified as a rare condition with a population of less than 200,000. To encourage the development of treatments for rare disorders — that may not otherwise be commercially viable for development — the FDA designates drugs that treat fewer than 200,000 patients with an “orphan drug” designation. Norditropin has received orphan drug designation for the treatment of short stature associated with Noonan syndrome.

It was remarked that careful monitoring is highly recommended when somatropin is administered in combination with other drugs that are known to be metabolized by CP450 liver enzymes such as sex steroids, corticosteroids, cyclosporine, and anticonvulsants.
